2021 Scholarship Recipients Jory Malone Foundation
(Benton, Ar, July 26, 2021) The directors of the Jory Malone Foundation are pleased to make several announcements regarding the scholarship fund and recipients. First, we would like to thank the students and members of Revolution Mixed Martial Arts for their contributions that made this possible. It leaves little doubt as to the impact Jory had as a coach on those around him. Due to the support we received, we have decided to offer 3 scholarships instead of one as originally planned.
Scholarship applicants were considered based on several factors including: choice of essay, letters of recommendation, grades (cumulative GPA/ ACT/ SAT score), personal achievements outside of schooling, and their commitment to leadership and education.
We are pleased to announce the 3 recipients are Alyssa Hernandez, Natalia Villegas, and Alysa Moreno. Each will receive a $1000 scholarship towards their education:
Alyssa Hernandez is a senior at Bryant High School. Along with keeping a 4.0 GPA she excels in sports (Volleyball). She will be attending East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma in the fall. Alyssa gave back to her community through her mentorship with youth sports.
Natalia Villegas originally graduated from Veteran’s Memorial High School in Corpus Christi, Tx. She will be starting her second year of college at Grand View University in Des Moines Iowa where she maintained a 4.0 GPA and was on the Dean’s List. She is also a member of the women’s wrestling team. Natalia has demonstrated resilience and perseverance through the sudden loss of her father in her first year of college. It is our honor to help her with her education in this time.
Alysa Moreno graduated from Grace Davis High School in Modesto, Ca and has been accepted to Simpson University in the Fall 2021 semester. Alysa plans to become a teacher and continue her wrestling career through college. She is active in her community and received the State Seal of Civic Engagement. She is also very active in the sport of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
The Jory Malone Foundation is a 501c3 that was organized to honor Jory’s legacy and commitment to education. Jory was the co-owner of Revolution Mixed Martial Arts in Benton, Ar. In June 2019 he passed away unexpectedly in his sleep. Through the help of his students at Revolution MMA and through the foundation, we are able to continue to spread his message and encourage young people to do and be their very best. The board of directors consists of Abby Malone, Brooke Million and Josh Norris.
